The Practice of Buddhism Has Power

It is not easy to go against the stream in the practice of Buddhism. Why do Buddhists do it?Are they out of their minds? No, they are not out of their minds. In fact, they are out of their brain and very much into their mind. When they start to practice the path of Buddhism, they do have some power, at least, to go against the current, which in itself needs power. Then again, there are more powers: - power to steadfastly keep the precepts; - power to look at things more deeply;due to the power of concentration that comes with the practice;- power to use the mind as a subject and look for an object for the mind to set its force upon. The brain can use the five senses to sense the object in the external world, but the mind can use only itselfand project itself to anything in the external world.Of course, it is not quite possible in a logical way or in a strict scientific way.But then again, the practice of Buddhism is never logical or scientific anyway, but still it is effective, and it works. That's what matters most, that the practice of Buddhism can empower one to go against the current.~ Desmond Chiong
